Rich in fiber and protein, cracked corn is a great food for ducks, doves, blackbirds, jay's, sparrows, and juncos. Sprinkle cracked corn directly on the ground to encourage ground feeders, and don't worry about anything sprouting below as dried cracked corn does not germinate. It is also a great way to distract bigger birds from more expensive seeds.
